Lori was introduced to yoga in 1975 via public televisions yogini Lilias Folan. It all seemed strangely familiar to me, and I was instantly hooked. I was prompted to teach what I knew to my grandmother each time I went to her house for a sleep-over. I should have known then that I would become a yoga teacher. It was the only thing outside of writing poetry and cooking that excited me down to my bones! Eventually certified, Lori is teaching full-time. This is a life-long journey which took root years ago; all I know for sure is that Ill continue to practice and teach for the rest of this life. And all I want is to wake up each day feeling grateful.
Lori is in the process of studying Anusara yoga, a style developed by John Friend, which o ffers Universal Principles of Alignment, allowing the practice to be at once healing and life-affirming. There is a major focus on the heart-center as we open our hearts to grace, and step into the flow of life. Loris on-going classes are open to men and women of all ages and physical abilities. We begin where we are physically and mentally, and proceed from there. \Yoga can be approached gently, but it is not at all passive. Yoga is a call to action: action of the heart, the mind, and the body to bring about integration and union. The practice is an Art and a Science. Your hunger for knowledge, discipline, and creativity can be nourished by a daily Hatha yoga practice and meditation. I encourage students to practice some form of yoga each day.
